Compared with a cadence sensor, which mainly detects pedalling movement, a torque sensor can provide assistance that responds more closely to how hard you are actually pedalling. For example, when you pedal harder or begin climbing, the system can provide more support, while lighter pedalling on flatter roads results in gentler assistance.
